The transition from colouring my hair to my natural silver was not an easy journey not due to anything other than my lack of confidence to embrace my natural gray. You don’t need tons of products to go silver you just need to make the decision and be a little patient during the process. My modelling agency @mrsrobinsonmgt encouraged me in 2018 to grow my hair out. I failed at seven attempts to transition to gray hair until I finally stopped listening to my friends who told me I would look too old and unattractive. My hair surrounding my face was stark white while salt and pepper in the back so it was a bit more challenging. So on most days I would just wear my hair up and my secret was a brown root touch up hair crayon/stick and I would apply some streaks in the front just for balance. It worked like a dream and the effect with a crayon/stick was much more effective and more natural looking than powders or sprays which I found to be messy. That helped while my silver was growing out. So glad I finally listened to my inner voice to do my own thing. You can too and you will never turn back trust me! Silver hair is so liberating and now I can’t imagine myself with any other colour than my natural one My only regret is not having taken the journey sooner. We never know what struggles people are going through pretending everything is ok. I think sometimes in life we forget or do not give people enough credit who have really gone through some serious trauma and come out on the other side. They could have given up, but they kept on going, they forgive, they smile , they serve others and they cope in silence. They make it through another day because somewhere deep down inside their hope has not withered away . Better days do come and God is that voice inside that keeps them going when life seems unbearable. I just love reading those stories and there are so many of them when someone going through really tough times gets one small break from a kind soul and it catapults his/her entire life transforming them forever. Boy do I love those kinds of stories. It was like greatness always awaited them hidden just waiting to be ignited and they never gave up on their faith in themselves and God. Am giving a big shout out to all those who have survived insurmountable hardships coping day by day sometimes hour by hour. It’s made you stronger in ways you never could have imagined. You’ve endured struggles that most people could not endure myself included with a strength and nobility that don’t seem possible and you know who you are. A Lady’s Best Friend💕 I imagine working with animals for shoots is no easy task and I have to say these dogs really knew how to pose!! Rain, the beautiful, professional and very patient poodle in the shoot was my delightful partner in crime for the day. As a kid I remember visiting my favourite Uncle Milton and as I approached the front door of his home I was gleefully greeted by a pair of handsome poodles just like Rain. Come Out On The Other Side Spending more time on my own for the first time in decades means more time to think. I love peace and have always done my best to steer away from confrontation and aggression, but sometimes one is forced to face a Goliath that just doesn’t want peace. Some of you have faced your own Goliaths in life. Maybe you have faced more than one Goliath which could be a serious health condition, medical procedures, the loss of a loved one,a broken marriage, broken relationships, oppression in any form or whatever it may be that removes your peace. There is no shortage of Goliaths, but there is also no shortage of great warrior like fortitude and strength that doesn’t surrender. At times you wish you could just run away, or pretend it’s not there, but for one reason or another you can’t. Through the fear you develop coping strategies, managing the attacks and lessening the destructive figurative blows and getting on with life. You don’t have the luxury of letting down your guard for even a moment to rest, recover or process because your Goliath is always present. You don’t have time to ponder or grieve why the Goliath has even appeared in your life. My message to you is do not give up your faith in God in the middle of whatever you are going through. Sometimes these Goliaths are not removed at once, but God will see you through to the end. Sometimes it might feel like God just isn’t there, but God will never abandon you and will sustain you and give you the strength needed. One day when your Goliath is powerless and gone you will realise that being forced to face it helped you to develop strength, courage and endurance you never realised you had to come out on the other side so that you may be of service to others who might be facing the same Goliath.
