7110Don’t ever mistake exhaustion for defeat. Have you ever had that special reserve of energy to get through the hardest times when you needed it the most? You may be weary, but you are not worn out. You are still here existing and you are moving through the trial. It didn’t finish you off. Sometimes when we look back we wonder how we even got through. I can tell you how I got through and it was only with the strength of God not my own strength that helped me overcome some of the biggest challenges in life. We are limited in what we can do, but God is not. You do not need to struggle and there are situations completely beyond our control that call for divine intervention. It is tragic that so many people go through life full of pain having been betrayed by family members, friends and don’t feel loved when the most perfect unconditional love is available to them anytime and anywhere. 774“Who would have thought that the ugly duckling would turn into a swan?” wrote my uncle. I sat there in disbelief as a young woman when I read this letter that he had written to another family member. My one visit in a lifetime uncle had only met me briefly, yet he referred to me as the “ugly duckling” I was surprised and a bit disappointed to think that a family member judged me in this way especially my uncle! Thankfully I came across this letter many years later otherwise it might have really crushed me had I seen it during my adolescence when I was very sensitive to hurtful words. I was able to take it in my stride and just forgave my uncle’s ugly duckling swan comment. It’s never been a kind or flattering saying. 11750I had an insight after The Beauty of Aging event sponsored by @esteelauderuk and @harrodsbeauty . Although I never thought much about ageing to be honest I did after that event. It got me reflecting on inner beauty and how all of our experiences in life, the good and the less good create our innermost being. Beauty is uniqueness and that special something that God gave each and every individual when created and age only enhances beauty it does not detract from it. I feel so grateful that @charlottetilbury @nikki_makeup and @sofiatilbury believed in me when I resumed my modelling career in 2020. They made me feel seen and appreciated for who I am and I will never forget that. Charlotte Tilbury was the first brand that I know of that proudly celebrated the beauty of every woman from every background regardless of age. Just to clarify I am so happy to be modelling again and feel blessed to be able to model at this time in my life. This post is about how age plus experience equates to another kind of beauty that enhances external beauty. I love aesthetics whether an old master painting, vintage fashion, a fine piece of jewelry, classic cars, beautiful architecture and all forms of art. In admiring design and these beautiful works I am curious to know about how they were created and to know more about the artist. The same applies to a model. A model is not just beautiful externally, but is someone with their own individuality, experiences and ability to create. An experienced actor does not refer to him/herself as a mature actor, an experienced painter does not refer to him/herself as a mature artist, nor does an experienced author or singer refer to themselves as mature authors and mature singers. Their combination of life experiences enhance their craft and beauty as artists. An experienced model is a model from now on in my book. I shall never refer to myself as a mature model ever again!!! Being able to respond and not react during a heated exchange of opinions is so essential in life and a skill not easily developed, but possible to learn. Let love lead always and guard your peace.
